Mixed Messages: A Fusion of Heart, Sound, and Stories.
Mixed Messages is a modern country rock band that blends her original music, multiple genres whic span decades, offering a dynamic sound that spans her originals, classic rock, vintage rock, pop, and, of course, country rock. Fronted by Mary Anne Message, the band delivers a unique musical experience that seamlessly merges original songs with timeless covers, creating a sound that appeals to a wide range of listeners.
Mary Anne Message leads the band with her powerful voice and heartfelt songwriting. Her single “Reel You In” (2015) and album Bucketlist, featuring the popular track “Kiss Me In The Rain,” gained radio play on AM/FM stations and SiriusXM’s Canadian Country Music Channel 171. Mary Anne’s talent has earned her recognition, including an Honorarium from Ivan Daines & the 20th Alberta Men & Women of Country Music.
Her writing influences, Ron and Sue Irving, has had her music evolved into a unique fusion of styles, each song telling a story that resonates deeply with her audience.
The band’s lineup brings together a wealth of experience from different musical backgrounds. Ray Miller, the bass player, originally from Montreal, has played with numerous bands across Quebec and Ontario before relocating to Alberta. His time with Nikki Wozzo and the Bad Whiskey, and sharing stages with bands like Nazareth and Nick Guider, has given him a versatile style that fits seamlessly into Mixed Messages’ broad musical range.
Ronny Greeley, the drummer, has been playing for over 45 years and has drummed for many bands, including Middle Aged Crazy and Foof Doogan, opening for acts like Dr. Hook and Wide Mouth Mason. His experience as a recording engineer and his deep roots in Newfoundland’s musical culture bring a distinctive touch to the band’s sound, adapting effortlessly to any genre—from classic rock to country to pop.
John Kisser, the band’s lead guitarist, started his musical journey in his school years, playing in local bands before meeting Mary Anne, Ron, and the rest of the band. His guitar playing is known for its elegance and precision, as his fingers “kiss” the strings to create soulful, intricate solos that complement the band’s diverse repertoire.
Roberta “Bobbie” Fetch adds her musical talents on the keyboard, a role she embraced after years of classical training and mastering the guitar. A singer-songwriter with influences like Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, and Loretta Lynn, Bobbie’s keyboard work adds a rich layer to the band’s sound. She treasures the creative freedom Mixed Messages provides, bringing a unique energy to every performance.
Together, Mixed Messages creates a musical experience that moves through classic rock anthems, vintage, pop, and modern country rock, all while delivering original songs that speak to the heart. Their ability to cover a wide range of genres, combined with their powerful original tracks, makes them a standout act in the live music scene. Whether they’re playing a timeless classic or a heartfelt original, Mixed Messages connects with audiences on a personal level, leaving them with more than just music—a message that lingers long after the show ends.
